The average American emits at least 1 ton of CO2e per month, which costs us $18 to offset. Therefore, by donating $18 per month, you can effectively eliminate most if not all of your personal carbon footprint. You can make sure your donation is offsetting your entire carbon footprint by using our carbon footprint calculator.
We purchase approximately one carbon allowance with every $18 we receive, so a donation that is not a multiple of 18 will be rounded down (ie a $25 or $30 gift will result in purchasing one carbon allowance). If you donate an amount under $18, your donation will be combined with other smaller donations to purchase carbon allowances. Any gift helps the planet tremendously!
Please note that since CLA purchases its allowances from a blind auction, the final price of any one allowance can vary widely. That said, the donations we receive can result in slightly more or less impact than our projected one allowance for every $18.
